instead of a partioned drive, he is going to make a second hard drive, that does not stay in the computer, and that stays in my drawer, in case i get a virus, this has the entire operating system (since i don't want to go with partitioned again), in case i get a virus, i would take the hd out he has in and put this second hd in, i asked him to make two, he said that's overkill, i said, bill me for it then, i want to have one, in case something happens, and i don't have to wait and be without a computer, while i take the second hd and he makes another one, erasing damage., of course he said, if you get a virus, you run your software with norton, you don't just pop out what you have and put this in, so, i got that going on now and i put the first 100 down on it, not sure what two of those hd's that are called ghosting are going to cost me now., like i said, he was going to give me the one, i asked for two.

No you do not need that.. It is way overkill and waste of drive.. esp when can do like i do and just use an drive imaging program to do the OS and files if need to start fresh etc incase disaster or problem. Can restore / reboot back to brand new.

But what i was talking about was a factory partition with a recovery OS on it so can recovery just the main OS easily whenever.

Can do it pretty much the same with this other im talking about here to tho.. But yes a external HD is a must pretty much always.

yeah, but you know what you're doing, if i did, i wouldn't need to be here for this, so, i said, screw it and get the peace of mind and said, make me two, guy thinks i'm annoying now and a bit eccentric, he said, i was going to be nice and give it to you (the ghosting) for nothing, i said, you're time is worth money, i'll pay for it, just make two.

but, i always suspected in the old computer, a bad c drive (both times they replaced it) or a partition making problems for me.

i'm sure you don't recall the night online, windows live, i had just reformatted again, the whole damn computer, updates, put my software on it, but didn't do any work yet, so, none of the computer drives had my work happening, you sent me a file, it never came through and you said, you're computer is way ****ed up.  so, i never knew what the problem really was and i'm feeling like, **** a partition.

was doing a more thorough search of rent to own, don't seem to be many, i looked at one apple computer, as someone said last night, be better off, but the photoshop cs4 suite i have is for windows!!  along with everything else i have, Bobby once said to me, once you get a mac, you will never go back, i was a windows man until then and it changed it forever, and my wife has twice as many computer problems  because like you, she insists on windows......

so, with what he wants to do, you really think it's overkill??  i just want something here in case my ass is in a sling and i can get rid of sling right away and not have to rely on him to reformat it, he was going to keep the ghosting at his place, and i'm thinking, no, i'd rather have it at home.

i'm confused, don't know what to do at this point, he has been doing this work for 45 years and i know you will both do me right so to speak on this whole thing, and he also does not really prefer partitioned drives, he knows how to do what you're saying and all, but i also am not preferring the partion, but he'll do it, if i insist.  i just don't want to piss the guy off and have him say, don't come back here.

Yes its overkill..

Just get a external drive and do it with programs like i said plus it's easy as hell. Then use the EHD to store them and the backup file which compresses down ALOT but its becomes one file for your whole computer and then inputs it into your computer back in multi files where they go.

Its not ghosting or whatever you keep calling it. Anyways as said yes that is what you need to do.
