Horizontally Spinning Tutorial
(PS)

To start off, first, would be to use your object, let’s for the matter sake say the object you want to spin is the letter "s" ..

Type out your letter in the font and the size/style you want in a new document· make it large enough to work with and save the initial development.. s-dev1.psd (you can add a background and whatever you want along with this.. I’m doing it with a white background.

Assuming your "layers" window/toolbar is open .. click on the text layer so the letter "s" appears as the label for that layer & is highlighted.

Then, click "control + j", this will replicate the layer.. click on the eyeball ball(to view or not view) for the 1st "s" so that there is only one showing (even though they are on top of each other).. this is to keep your original editable version intact..

Next, click on "Layers" at the top of PS(photoshop) program and then, click to "rasterize" the text... (this will allow you to keep the text with all the same attributes while transforming it in new replicated layers).

Next, do "control + j" again... you should now have two "rasterized" version of the letter "s".

Now, you’re going to take the second rasterized "s".. and make it narrower .. Click the move tool & your second "s" should be highlight by the bounding box.. click on the left side and move the left in towards the center 30% and move the right side in towards the center 30% and then click the "move tool icon" in the toolbox bar.. and then click in the pop up "yes" to transform...

Then, click "control + j" again to replicate your narrower "s" and repeat the previous process and make it again 30% narrower(this should be done now on your 3rd "s").

Now, go back to all three "s’s" and replicate them all.. you should now have 6 "s’s" not including your original.

Next, go to every replicated version of your "s’s" and click "edit" (from the top) .. and then click, "transform and then flip horizontally".

Now, this is the groundwork for the animation.. get your animation window open.. clear all layers except your first "s" (background is optional) and click you animation window to make either 6 frames or at the end of the animation window there’s a little arrow that pop a sub menu.. and you could click make frames from all layers.. but, you may end up wanting to not have all of your layers there.. (i.e. your original text "s" you won’t want there)... you’ll see when it’s in motion.

Below is the time line .. it should look similar to that.. it can be slowed down by adding longer time for each frame by clicking where it shows the time/delay ... *and in this particular arrangement.. press play ... and then, if you like the way it looks, then, save save for web(.gif) .. and that’s it for the most part...

Also, click the piece of paper to left of the garbage can to replicate flipped "s" number 2 & 3... at the back end to complete the spin... by dragging the two frames to the end of the frames window.. as shown in the below screen shot ...

*You can add more "s’s" with all of the varying percentages in other than 3 at 30% percent each to make it even smoother...

Let me know if this is enough information and how it works out for anyone who tried..

**The finished version in motion..
