I only used the sparks brush in GIMP, and a couple of filters. (I had so many things going on, and doing a bunch of tasks, so I don't know how long it took)

The center object could be a little cleaner tho.. To much blur or mixture going on there of things...

Yeah I noticed that after I made it, but I didn't wanna do any more editing, I just wanted sleep lol.

I don't really like this result though.

I'm thinking on making a whole 3D design of it, but I don't have any ideas of an environment.
