How to disable User Account Control (UAC) on Windows Vista
If you've used Windows Vista for any length of time your most likely familiar with this pop-up.
User Account Control or UAC for short is easily the most annoying features of Windows Vista.
It appears often times when your trying to open an application or a more vulnerable windows feature like the Network and Sharing Center pictured above. It was designed to prevent unauthorized access by malicious programs and hackers, but in most instances it ends up being more of a hindrance than a help.
Before going any further please note that turning off UAC will result in a less secure system, but as long as you exercise caution when downloading and installing new programs and browsing the web you'll most likely be fine.
Now first things first open up your
Control Panel. From
Control Panel Home find the icon that says
User Accounts and Family Safety and click it.

Now click
User Accounts it will be the top most option on the newest screen.
NOTE: You can also find this menu from the
Control Panel in
Classic View by clicking the
User Accounts icon.
Now after having clicked
User Accounts look for a link that says
Turn User Account Control on or off then click it.

Once your in the next menu all you have to do is uncheck the box that says
Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.

Now hit the
Ok button near the bottom.
Your system will require a reboot for the changes to be complete and then you'll be finished.
